學(xué)習(xí)新東西對于老年人的好處
While retirement may seem like the perfect time to put your feet up, learning new things could boost your brain power(健腦) at old age. Retirement usually coincides with(意味著) the start of the natural decline in brain power and the switch from busy work life to the slower pace of old age(從工作生活切換到慢節(jié)奏的老年生活) can leave a void needing to be filled with tasks that are mentally stimulating. In other words, the slowdown in activity when people start drawing their pension means the brain is used less and less, having long-term implications for(有長期的影響) its ability to perform properly. However, learning a new language and socializing with strangers are mentally engaging and enjoyable so that your brainpower is preserved during retirement. Accordingly, keeping the brain active can keep mental deterioration at bay(阻止腦力衰弱) and even stave off(避免) depression.
